Drake University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (CPHS) recently issued awards to faculty, alumni, and students, for outstanding teaching, mentorship, scholarship, and professional involvement and leadership. Award recipients reflect the core values of the college: collaboration, innovation, professionalism, student/learner centered, collegiality, and entrepreneurial leadership. Nominations for awards are sought from the student body and faculty/staff peers within the college, and the awards are given during Drake’s annual student-organized Pharmacy and Health Sciences Day.
Jayna Fischbach, assistant professor of occupational therapy, was named the CPHS Teacher of the Year.
Matthew Zwier, assistant professor of chemistry, was named Non-CPHS Teacher of the Year.
Erin Ulrich, assistant professor of social and administrative pharmacy, received the Faculty Mentor of the Year award.
Erik Maki, associate professor of pharmacy practice, was named Faculty Preceptor of the Year.
Ron Torry, professor of pharmacy, was named Hartig Distinguished Professor. The award is given annually by the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to recognize a faculty member who has distinguished him or herself in teaching, scholarship, service or practice.
Anisa Fornoff, associate professor of pharmacy practice, was honored with the C. Boyd Granberg Professional Leadership Award. The award recognizes and celebrates the contributions of faculty members who demonstrate sustained and significant leadership in professional organizations, and inspire students toward professional involvement.
Jennifer Meurer, PH’00, owner/manager of Medicap Pharmacy in Ankeny, was named APPE Preceptor of the Year.
Roxanne Ruden, PH’79, pharmacy operations manager at Mercy Medical Center, was named IPPE Preceptor of the Year.
Julie Gibbons, nurse epidemiologist at UnityPoint Health, was named Health Sciences Preceptor of the Year.
