Drake Law School and the Drake Legal Clinic, in conjunction with the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, are partnering with the IRS Exempt Organization Division to present the national touring “IRS Tax Workshop: For Small and Medium Sized Nonprofit Organizations.”
The workshop is 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, in the Olmsted Center at Drake University.
Taught by experienced IRS Exempt Organization Specialists, the workshop will explain the nuts and bolts of what 501(c)(3) entities must do to keep their tax-exempt status and comply with tax obligations. The workshop will cover the benefits and responsibilities of tax-exempt status, unrelated business income, employment classifications and requirements, overview of the 990 form, required disclosures, and more.
Presenters for the workshop are Cheryl A. Teser, CPA, senior program analyst in the Compliance Strategies Unit of Exempt Organizations, and Joyce Hoover, CPA, Exempt Organizations Customer Education & Outreach speaker.
Continuing education credits are available.
