Marsha Ternus, a 1977 graduate of Drake Law School and former chief justice of the Iowa Supreme Court, will be inducted into the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame on Aug. 22 for her impact on the status of women in Iowa.
Ternus became the first woman to hold the title of Chief Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court when she was selected for the position in 2006. She served on the court for 17 years.
While still practicing law in Des Moines and teaching on judicial indepenence, Ternus also serves as the director of the Harkin Institute for Public Policy and Citizen Engagement at Drake.
She joins over 160 influential women in the Hall of Fame.
