Greg Johansen of West Des Moines has been elected to the Drake University Board of Trustees.
Johansen is a 1976 graduate of the Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, with a long and successful career in pharmacy operation. He is president of GRX Holdings LLC, which owns and operates several Medicap Pharmacy locations, a long-term care pharmacy, and a compounding pharmacy in Central Iowa. Previously, Johansen was senior vice president of operations for Medicap Pharmacies and senior vice president of pharmacy solutions for Medicine Shoppe International.
Johansen is a loyal Drake alumnus whose generosity has shaped pharmacy students’ learning experience through two leadership-level gifts to distinctlyDrake, the University’s $200 million fundraising campaign. One gift funded the Johansen Skills Assessment Laboratory in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2013. The laboratory consists of several flexible collaborative learning spaces that allow students to hone specific skills, such as using medical devices, taking vital signs, counseling patients, providing drug information, and preparing sterile products. A second gift to distinctlyDrake created an endowed fund that supports study abroad experiences for pharmacy students.
Johansen serves as president of the Board of Directors of Iowa International Center, a nonprofit organization that provides access to international resources to Iowans, new Iowans, and international visitors to Iowa.
