On Tuesday, April 22, The New Republic and Drake University’s Engaged Citizen Experience, with support from the League of Women Voters, will host a half-day forum on climate change at Drake. The event is from 9 a.m. to noon in Parents Hall of Olmsted Center, 2875 University Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
The program will discuss the current state of climate change policy at the federal, state, and local levels and the role climate will play in future political campaigns and agendas.
Editors from The New Republic and The Des Moines Register will moderate a local government session with Mayors James Brainard of Carmel, IN and Frank Cownie of Des Moines, IA, as well as a panel discussion that will focus on climate issues in Iowa. Secretary of Agriculture Thomas J. Vilsack, will headline the event.
