Drake Choir hosts benefit concert for performance in Avery Fisher Hall

On Saturday, Feb. 22, the Drake Choir will host a benefit concert to support the group’s trip to New York in May. The concert will be held on Drake’s campus at 7:30 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium, and will feature music ranging from jazz and Broadway to opera and folk.

The benefit concert will showcase the talents of Drake Choir students, both individually and collectively, providing listeners the opportunity to hear a delightful assortment of music.

“We’ll have something for everyone,” says Aimee Beckman-Collier, director of choral studies and professor of conducting at Drake University. “The music is sure to please people of all ages.”

Funds raised from the concert will assist the group as they travel to Manhattan in May to perform in Avery Fisher Hall—one of America’s most prestigious concert venues. The group will spend several days in rehearsals in New York City prior to their performance on May 25.

Tickets for non-students are $25 and $5 for students, and can be purchased by contacting Tricia Atterberg at tricia.atterberg@drake.edu or 515-271-2755, or, by contacting Aimee Beckmann-Collier at aimee.beckmann-collier@drake.edu or 515-271-2841.
