Drake Symphony Orchestra holds second concert of the season

On December 4, the Drake Symphony Orchestra will perform its second concert of the season. The performance will highlight the 200th anniversary of Richard Wagner’s birth by performing Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder as well as Gluck’s Overture and Schumann’s Symphony No. 1. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium at Drake University.

Leann Freeman-Miller, professor of voice at Drake, will perform as a featured soloist for Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder. Freeman-Miller has appeared as a soloist in various performing groups in oratio and opera including Stephen Paulus’ To Be Certain of the Dawn at the Des Moines Civic Center, and the Salisbury House Chamber Music series, Onstage at the Des Moines Art Center. She is a leading expert in musical theater performance and musical direction. She has directed various performances at Drake including Cabaret, Bare, and A Little Night Music.
