On Sept. 19, the Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship at Drake University will open its fall series with the showing of “The Warriors of Qiugang,” an Academy Award nominated documentary. The film, which is free and open to the public, will be shown at 8 p.m. in the Sussman Theater on Drake University’s campus.
The film features Zhang Gongli, a farmer in central China, whose house and fields lie near the banks of the Huai River. The film follows Zhang and other villagers as they try to take on a chemical company that began poisoning their land and water in 2004.
