Larry Zimpleman to receive a national lifetime achievement award this fall

Larry Zimpleman, BN’73, GR’79, chair of the Drake University Board of Trustees and chairman, president, and CEO of Principal Financial Group Inc., has been named the 2013 recipient of the Lillywhite Award, which recognizes outstanding lifetime contributions to Americans’ economic security.

The Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI), a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit research institute based in Washington, D.C, sponsors the Lillywhite Award, which is given annually. EBRI focuses on health, savings, retirement, and economic security issues. Zimpleman will be presented the award at the Pensions & Investments West Coast Defined Contribution Conference in San Francisco on October 29.

The award is named after Ray Lillywhite, a pioneer in the pension field with Alliance Capital, who guided state employee pension plans for decades.
