Drake University LEAD students and Dr. Thomas Westbrook with State Representative Ako Abdul-Samad, State Senator Robert Hogg, State Senator Janet Peterson, State Representative Marti Anderson and State Senator Jack Hatch. Drake University students in the LEAD 190 and LEAD 100 classes, traveled to the Iowa State Capitol to meet and hear from senators and representatives. These students initiated a ban on plastic water bottle use across Drake University’s campus. Each congressperson thanked the students for their participation in this effort. They told their story of how they became involved with state government and challenged the students to continue to initiate positive change. It Was a great opportunity for Drake University students to learn from their State government officials.
