ESL Endorsement Cohort Completers Honored

Sixteen teachers will be honored at a celebration of the completion of the first Heartland Area Education Agency-Drake University Partnership English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement cohort. This group of practicing teachers has worked since last summer to complete requirements for their ESL endorsement and will be honored by Dean Jan McMahill, Provost Dee Jones, Heartland staff, and their Drake instructors in a recognition event at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, May 15th.

Cohort advisor, Dr. Shelley Fairbairn, commented that “this partnership is a wonderful example of the ways in which the Drake University School of Education is able to collaborate with districts and agencies to build capacity to serve one of the fastest-growing populations of K-12 students in our state.” The success of this partnership has led to a second cohort, which includes teachers from Des Moines Public Schools, beginning this summer.
