Professionals seeking leadership tips and strategies can learn the skills they need to effectively influence others through a new workshop offered by the Drake University College of Business and Public Administration (CBPA) on Friday, May 10.
Timothy Johnson, Extreme Leadership Institute Certified Facilitator, will lead the one-day program.
Johnson, an adjunct instructor in management and international business at Drake, received his undergraduate degree from Central College in Pella and an M.B.A. from Drake. He is president and chief solutions officer of Delta Solutions, Inc., as well as a Certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute.
Johnson will use techniques featured in best-selling author Steve Farber’s book The Radical Leap Re-Energized. Participants will gain an understanding of Farber’s “Extreme Leadership Framework” and its application to leadership in the workplace. The 6-hour workshop will also cover challenges and opportunities facing professional leaders, and strategies for effectively navigating conflict. Each leader will develop an “Extreme Leader Action Plan to Change the World” that provides a framework for personal and professional change.
The program will be held 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Aliber Hall, 2847 University Avenue, Des Moines. Cost for the workshop is $595, which includes instruction, a participant handbook and workbook, an “Extreme Leader Action Plan,” Farber’s book, and a series of follow-up videos sent to participants over the following year. A light lunch will also be provided.
Workshop space is limited to 20 participants. To enroll in the program, visit www.cbpa.drake.edu/cps. For more information, call the Drake Center for Professional Studies at 515-271-2592.
