For decades, Drake students donned costumes, sang songs, and performed skits in the annual Bulldog Tales. A tradition born in 1946 by men’s journalism fraternity Sigma Delta Chi and later adopted by the women’s journalism fraternity Theta Sigma Phi to raise money for scholarships, groups from all over campus auditioned for a coveted spot to compete for trophies and bragging rights. Judges over the years included editors from Better Homes and Gardens and Des Moines Register, WHO-TV personalities, and favorite campus figures. Pictured are skits in 1958, 1973, and 1988.
