The Drake University College of Business and Public Administration will host the “$10 Million a Minute Tour,” on Sept. 19 in Parents Hall in the Olmsted Center. The event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. and will feature David M. Walker, founder and CEO of the Comeback America Initiative and former U.S. Comptroller General.
Walker is often referred to as the nation’s fiscal watchdog. His presentation will address the state of the country’s financial challenge and a range of non-partisan and non-ideological solutions. The event will also feature Robert Bixby, executive director of The Concord Coalition, a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to fiscal responsibility. Prior to his work with the Coalition, he served as chief staff attorney of the Court of Appeals of Virginia.
“In an election year it is often difficult to separate facts from political rhetoric,” says Tom Root, associate professor of finance at Drake. “David Walker and Robert Bixby provide an objective and well-respected viewpoint on one of the most important topics of the election—the U.S. debt level and the future financial health of the country.”
The $10 Million a Minute Tour is an issue-oriented educational campaign led by the Comeback America Initiative. It is a fact-based, nonpartisan, and non-ideological tour that focuses on the tough choices Americans face and sensible, objective solutions that can achieve bipartisan support and restore fiscal sanity.
