Erin Gabriel, assistant director of admission at Drake University, recently received the Iowa Admission Professional of the Year award. Each year the Iowa Association for College Admission Counseling (Iowa ACAC) recognizes admission professionals demonstrating excellence in the field. She received the award at the 2012 MIDWest Conference.
“When I found out I won I was speechless, which never happens,” Gabriel says. “I feel really thankful for the award.”
At Drake, Gabriel counsels prospective students from several states in the Midwest, Pennsylvania, and the Pacific Northwest. Gabriel serves as the conference planning chair on the Iowa ACAC Executive Board.
“She is very deserving of the award,” says Laura Linn, director of admission for Drake. “Her commitment to the organization [Iowa ACAC] has been exceptional.”
Iowa ACAC upholds high professional standards in post-secondary admission guidance and develops relationships between secondary and post-secondary institutions. The organization is comprised of secondary and post-secondary admission professionals.
