Drake Relays is the best time for alumni to come home to Drake and catch up with old friends. This year, many alumni participated in a variety of class and affinity reunions.
Greek Reunion: Nearly 1,000 alumni braved the cold weather to reconnect under the All-Greek Reunion tent that towered behind Jethro’s BBQ. During the reunion, alumni gathered under banners bearing their chapter letters, snapped pictures with friends in the photo booth, and caught up with fellow Greeks from different generations. Earlier in the day, alumni took tours of all the Greek houses on campus.
African American Reunion: Almost 100 alumni gathered together for the African-American Reunion. Including students from the Coalition of Black Students, more than 150 people participated over the course of the weekend. Activities included a Friday night barbecue with students, a retirement reception for Wanda Everage, lunch with current students featuring an alumni panel, and Sunday morning worship.
10-Year Reunion: More than 85 alumni came back for the 10-year reunion. Graduates from the class of 2002 gathered in Helmick Commons near the Scott Branson Plaza in a reunion tent.
40-Year Reunion: Alums from the class of 1972 gathered at Relays to reminisce on 40 years of accomplishment. Events included a Friday welcome at Jasper Winery hosted by the committee, the reunion event at the Patty and Fred Turner Center, and an intimate gathering for brunch on Sunday at Americana.
