Drake’s Agricultural Law Center and Neil Hamilton, professor of law and director of the center, received a $50,000 grant from the Lillian Goldman Charitable Trust.
The funds will go toward general support of the Agricultural Law Center, which was founded in 1983, the same year Hamilton started teaching at Drake. The Center is internationally recognized for providing opportunities to study how the legal system shapes our food system and influences the ability of the agricultural sector to produce, market and utilize agricultural products.
Hamilton is the Dwight D. Opperman Chair of Law at Drake Law School. His areas of expertise include agricultural law, land use, legislation, wind law, food law and environmental regulation of agriculture. He currently serves on the board of directors for both the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and Seed Savers Exchange.
The Lillian Goldman Charitable Trust supports various agricultural research and preservation efforts, and is named for Lillian Goldman, a major contributor to Yale’s Law School and Library.
