Drake to host ISU political science professor for discussion of current foreign policy

Drake will host James McCormick, professor and chair of the Iowa State University department of political science, for an October 3 presentation on President Obama’s foreign policy.

McCormick’s lecture, titled “Barack Obama: A Foreign Policy of Change?” will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Bulldog Auditorium in Drake’s Olmsted Center, 2875 University Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

McCormick has authored or edited ten books, including “American Foreign Policy and Process” and “The Domestic Sources of American Foreign Policy: Insights and Evidence.” He has also been published in more than 60 book chapters and political science journals, including World Politics, American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, The Journal of Politics and Legislative Studies Quarterly.

From 1999-2003, McCormick served as co-editor of International Studies Quarterly. He has also received numerous awards for his written work, lectures and influence at ISU. Most recently he was presented the 2010 Iowa State Foundation International Service Award for his work abroad.

The presentation is part of the Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship 2011 Fall Speaker and Film Series.
