Get your paintbrushes ready. Drake’s new tradition of expanding Relays street painting festivities downtown will enter its second year this April.
Convince your co-workers to transform a square of sidewalk in the Court Avenue District on Wednesday, April 27, from 1–4 p.m.
The Downtown Street Painting event will take place on the sidewalks between 3rd and 4th streets on Court Avenue. Each participating organization will have the opportunity to paint a 4-foot by 4-foot square of sidewalk incorporating this year’s Relays theme with its own brand.
Participating in this event is a great way to engage in the downtown community while promoting your organization. Your square will remain painted and on display throughout the year and will be viewed by the thousands of individuals who enjoy the Downtown Farmers’ market, and the many restaurants, businesses and other activities present on Court Avenue.
Downtown Street Painting offers a great opportunity for businesses, nonprofits and community organizations to join together to celebrate the Drake Relays. Your organization can purchase a square for painting. Participation fee is $250. Nonprofit and community organizations and Drake alumni groups may purchase a square for $150. Each organization will provide up to five painters. A panel of judges will review the painted squares. Winners will receive a gift pack from Drake University. This promises to be a fun way to maximize your organization’s exposure in the community.
