Drake students will band together to support diabetes research and prevention at the Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes on Sunday, Sept. 12.
The event, which is sponsored by the American Diabetes Association (ADA), will be held at Gray’s Lake Park in Des Moines, 2100 Fleur Dr.
Two teams of students will gather together for different shifts:
* 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — Volunteers will help with event set-up
* 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. — Volunteers will work during the event and assist with tear down
Students interested in participating can register online.
Prior to the walk, participants will warm-up during an exercise session led by the Drake Women’s Volleyball Team. Drake cheerleaders will encourage volunteers during the walk, which will begin at 2 p.m.
