Writers and Critics series brings critically acclaimed poets to Drake

Poets Catie Rosemurgy and Steve Langan will read selections from their poetry as part of Drake University’s Writers and Critics Series on Tuesday, March 23.

The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Cowles Library Reading Room, 2725 University Ave.

Rosemurgy, associate professor of English at the College of New Jersey, is the author of two collections of poems, “The Stranger Manual” and “My Favorite Apocalypse.”

The recipient of a Rona Jaffe Award for Emerging Female Writers, her work most recently appeared in the anthologies “Isn’t It Romantic: 100 Love Poems by Young American Poets” and “Poetry 30.”

Langan is the author of three collections of poems, “Meet Me at the Happy Bar,” “Freezing” and “Notes on Exile and Other Poems.” A graduate of the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, he teaches poetry in the University of Nebraska Master’s of Fine Arts in writing program.

The Writers and Critics Series, which is sponsored by Drake’s English Department and its Center for the Humanities, will continue through the spring.

The next event in the series will feature Tod Marshall on Wednesday, March 31. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Cowles Library Reading Room.
