Judy Bradshaw, Drake University alumna and Des Moines chief of police will speak as part of Drake’s “Let’s DU Lunch” series on Wednesday, March 3.

The talk, which is open to the public, will be held at AllPlay, 615 Third Street in downtown Des Moines. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and the program at noon.

Bradshaw is a 29-year veteran of the DMPD and began her career as a cadet in 1980. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public administration from Drake and was a pioneer at the DMPD as the first woman lieutenant, captain, major and chief.

She also served as an adjunct professor at Grand View and Des Moines Area Community College.

Since Bradshaw was appointed chief of police in 2007, she has implemented several new programs and initiatives that have positively impacted the department and the citizens of Des Moines.

The luncheon costs $15 and reservations are highly recommended by Feb. 24 due to limited seating.

The “Let’s DU Lunch” series will conclude April 7 with a talk from Greg Edwards, president and CEO of Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Drake University and the Greater Des Moines Partnership sponsor the series.
