Menu for “A June Wedding: Iowa Wines Marry Iowa Appetizers”


St. Pepin — A semi-dry white wine that begins with a rich tropical fruit bouquet, which lends itself to a creamy sweet peach flavor and sultry lingering finish. Paired with:

  • Chicken Roll-Up
  • Niman Ranch poussin and Reichert’s Dairy Air chevre wrapped in LaQuercia pancetta

Leon Millot — Characterized by a robust dark berry and currant bouquet with a jammy, light oak finish. Paired with:

  • Mini Meat Loaf
  • Griffieon Family Farm ground beef and Paul’s Grains oats

Brianna — Aromas of mangos, apples and honey, venturing through crisp ripe melons and settling into a comfortable light and fruity finish.

Paired with:

  • Turtle Farm strawberries with Picket Fence Chantilly cream topped with Blue Gate Farm honey comb


Wild Rose — Semi-Sweet, blush. Paired with:

  • Arrancinni
  • Fried risotto filled with Niman Ranch salami, Gateway Market fresh mozzarella and Mariposa Farms basil

Twilight — Bold off-dry white that will arouse every taste bud in your mouth. Made with Edelweiss, LaCrosse and Vignoles grapes. Paired with:

  • Caprese
  • Graddy’s Tomatoes, Mariposa basil, infused Iowa Natural Soy Oil and Gateway fresh mozzarella

Rose City Red — Named for the city of its origin, Rose City Red is a
fruity, sweet red wine crafted from Steuben grapes. Paired with:

  • Beet Canape
  • Cleverley Farms candy striped beets, Northern Prairie Chevre, and avocado puree in a wonton crisp


La Cresent — A new Midwestern variety with potential to make excellent white wine, La Crescent features zesty citrus aromas of lemon and lime, with grapefruit and pineapple flavors and crisp acidity balanced with just a touch of sweetness. Paired with:

  • Ham and Cheese
  • Toasted South union Challah topped with Niman Ranch ham, gruyre cheese and Foxhollow Farm quail egg hollandaise

Behind the Shed Red — A  medium-bodied red blend with blackberry and plum aromas, concentrated fruit flavors and an excellent finish. Paired with:

  • Roast Beef
  • Coyote Run Farm roast beef with Northern Prairie horseradish/cranberry chevre and candied onions and Mariposa Farms herbs

Lucy Lane — Named after the winery’s dog, Lucy, this red wine is delectably sweet with a smooth taste and rich Concord flavor. Paired with:

  • Empanada
  • Frisian Farms Gouda with smoked pulled pork and Pico de Gallo


Runnells Red — A light bodied, fruity red wine, with a light touch of black cherry. Paired with:

  • Bleu BLT
  • La Quercia prosciutto, Cleverley Farms field greens, Maytag Bleu Cheese and Graddy’s tomatoes

Eidelweiss —  A semi-sweet fruity white wine, full of flavor and easy to drink, and
