Drake University is offering media professionals a free workshop on Saturday, April 18, that will explore how to be an entrepreneur in today’s evolving media market.

The hour-long workshop, “You — Only Better: Selling Yourself in a Tough Job Market,” will begin at 10 a.m. in room 106 of Drake’s Meredith Hall, 2805 University Ave.

The workshop will focus on:
  • “You As A Brand” — Evaluating your strengths and finding your niche.
  • “New Media Networking” — How and why to network online.
  • “Thinking Beyond Your Borders” — Re-envisioning yourself. Rethinking who is a client and how to find people who need you.
Claire Celsi, account supervisor with Integer Group and adjunct instructor of marketing at Drake, will lead the sessions.

The workshop is the last in a series of classes and other events this spring aimed not only at graduating seniors who will soon be job-hunting, but also at professionals who want to update their skills.

No pre-registration is necessary for the free event.
