Drake to host panel on state budget negotiations and Iowa’s economy

Iowa legislators and experts will discuss the upcoming state budget negotiations and the Iowa economy at the next IowaPolitics.com forum on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Drake University.

The event will start at 3:45 p.m. in Levitt Hall in Old Main, 2507 University Ave. Although the program is free and open to the public, registration is required. Register online or by sending an e-mail to info@Iowapolitics.com or calling 515-309-2941.

Confirmed panelists include:

  • Sen. Bob Dvorsky, D-Coralville, chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee
  • Ed Failor Jr., president of Iowans for Tax Relief
  • Brad Hudson, lobbyist for the Iowa State Education Association
  • Rep. Scott Raecker, R-Urbandale, ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee and executive director of the Institute for Character Development at Drake

Additional panelists may be added in the coming days.

IowaPolitics.com Des Moines Bureau Chief Lynn Campbell will moderate the program, and questions will be accepted from audience members. The event will be broadcast later on the Mediacom Connections Channel statewide and will be available for On Demand viewing on Mediacom Channel 1.

The forum is part of the “Cookies and Conversation” series sponsored by Drake, IowaPolitics.com and Mediacom.

Free parking will be available in Drake lots at 26th Street and University Avenue and at 25th Street and Carpenter Avenue.
