Pharmacy students from Drake University and the University of Iowa will team up to offer glucose, bone density, heartburn and blood pressure screenings targeted for Iowa legislators during Legislative Day on Wednesday, Feb. 13. The event, which is also free and open to the public, will be held from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Des Moines State Capitol Rotunda, East Ninth and Grand Avenue in Des Moines.
Student pharmacists, under pharmacist supervision, will be screening patients, as well as sharing information with patients about glucose, bone density, heartburn triggers and heartburn prevention and blood pressure.
In addition, students will offer information about pharmacy curriculum at both schools and distribute MedCards, which patients use to keep track of medical information including medications, allergies and pharmacy and doctor contact numbers.
