The 10,000 Hours Show of Central Iowa has rescheduled the spring volunteer fair with Drake University’s Volunteer Program for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m Wednesday, Feb. 13. The fair, which features more than 30 nonprofit and volunteer organizations, will take place from in the Olmsted Center, 2875 University Ave.

The volunteer fair provides a great way for students to network with nonprofit groups and set up volunteer opportunities that will go toward their 10 hours of service. Any student who volunteers at least 10 hours before April will receive a free ticket to the spring concert at Iowa State University in Ames.

The 10,000 Hours Show announced this week that Reel Big Fish will headline the concert set for April 14. The local band Public Property will open the concert at the Iowa State Memorial Union in Ames. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and Public Property will perform at 8 p.m., followed by Reel Big Fish at 9 p.m.

The 10,000 Hours Show of Central Iowa is a student-run organization at Drake and Iowa State designed to promote volunteerism by rewarding those who volunteer 10 or more hours of community service with a ticket to a free concert held in April. Past performers have included Ben Folds, Guster, CAKE and JET.

The 10,000 Hours Show is an endeavor of United Way of Central Iowa, the Volunteer Center of Story County, the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, Drake University and Iowa State University.
