Wells Fargo Bank regional president to speak at Drake lunch

The spring 2008 Drake University “Let’s DU Lunch” series will kick off with a speech by alumnus J. Scott Johnson of Wells Fargo Bank on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Polk County Convention Complex, 501 Grand Ave.

“Let’s DU Lunch” is open to the public and sponsored by the Drake University Central Iowa Alumni Chapter and the Greater Des Moines Partnership.

Johnson began his career with Wells Fargo Bank, Iowa in 1979 as a regional credit trainee. In 1986, he was promoted to vice president of mid-market banking. Four years later, he became senior vice president and manager of the Commercial Banking Division and in 1993 he was named president of Wells Fargo Bank at Seventh and Walnut streets in Des Moines. Johnson currently holds the title of regional president for Wells Fargo Bank in Iowa and Illinois.

The series will continue on Wednesday, March 12, with Weitz Iowa President Mike Tousley. Weitz Co., which recently celebrated its 150th anniversary, built several of the buildings on Drake’s campus. Stephen King, executive director of the Downtown Events Group, will conclude the series on Wednesday, April 9.

Cost is $15 per lunch or $36 for all three luncheons, which will be held at the Polk County Convention Complex. The events will begin with networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and the program at noon. Reservations are recommended due to limited seating.
