Extension Education Wins “Called To Be True Blue” Award

On Monday, December 3, the staff members of Extension Education were surprised to learn that they had been nominated for and won the traveling departmental award “Called To Be True Blue.” The award was designed to recognize the outstanding practice of Drake’s core values of excellence, learning, integrity, citizenship, and fiscal responsibility.

The Extension Education staff were nominated by Director of Extension Education Chuck Sengstock, who wrote:

The people in Extension Education work extremely hard and take customer service very seriously. This department enrolled over 15,000 students last year. They registered each of the students themselves and entered all of the grades and processed all of the payments as well. They also spoke to many on the phone, providing a high level of customer service. This was all done with a staff of eight.

Many of the Extension Education students repeatedly take courses from us because they recognize the high quality of service they will receive. Extension Education is made up of Tracy Bainter, Jean Cross, Patti Verlengia, Terry Thorpe, Diane Spahr, Mary Anderson, Kelli Carter, and Kendra Colbert.

Extension Education works hard everyday, proving the “Drake Difference”. It is tough for me to put into words how hard those in Extension Education work and how well they represent Drake. However, the team in Extension Education is second to non and are dedicated to their department, the School of Education, and Drake.
