Senator Dodd to speak at Drake forum Monday

Democratic presidential candidate Chris Dodd will be the featured guest at a Monday, Nov. 19, “Cookies and Conversation” forum hosted by Drake University and IowaPolitics.com.

IowaPolitics.com Bureau Chief Chris Dorsey will moderate the forum, which is free and open to the public. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. in Levitt Hall in Old Main, 2507 University Ave. Doors will open at 11:15 a.m. Reservations are required due to limited seating and may be obtained by calling 515-271-3747. Free parking will be available in the Drake parking lots at 26th Street and University Avenue and 25th Street and Carpenter Avenue.

Sen. Dodd, D-Conn., is in his fifth term in the U.S. Senate and previously served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is co-author of the Family and Medical Leave Act and now chairs the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Committee. He has been endorsed by the International Association of Fire Fighters, a group that helped propel Sen. John Kerry to a 2004 Iowa Caucus victory.

Dodd will be the fourth presidential candidate to participate in the series of forums sponsored by Drake and IowaPolitics.com. The series is designed to educate the public about the candidates and Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses.
