Drake calls for volunteers to assist in neighborhood revitalization

News PhotoDrake University faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in a day of service on Friday, Sept. 30.

Rock the Block, a neighborhood revitalization project organized by Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, will benefit low-income homeowners in the Drake neighborhood. Volunteers will participate in landscaping, exterior home maintenance, weatherization and accessibility projects.

Lunch will be provided to volunteers, who may sign up for a morning shift from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., an afternoon shift from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. or both shifts. Individuals interested in working all day may sign up to serve as project leaders.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
