Debra DeLaet teaches courses on world politics, human rights, international law, the United Nations, gender and world politics, peace-building and post-conflict justice, and global public health. DeLaet has published books on U.S. immigration policy, human rights, and global health. She has also published numerous journal articles, book chapters, and reviews. Her current research projects focus on global health. DeLaet supervises Drake's participation in the Model United Nations simulations. She has spent time and focused some of her research on southern Africa, specifically Botswana.
