Allen Zagoren, a practicing general surgeon and medical director of the Wound Healing Center at Iowa Methodist Medical Center (Unity Point Health Des Moines), teaches all of the healthcare related courses in Drake's Master of Public Administration program, including ethics, policy, regulation, law and advocacy, management. He carries a deep knowledge of healthcare reform legislation, medical ethics and health policy issues. Other areas of expertise include: childhood obesity, gender bias in health insurance premiums, history of health care and direct-to-consumer advertising of pharmaceuticals. His clinical expertise is in chronic non-healing and difficult wounds and interventional nutrition.
