Drake University politics professor Dennis Goldford says there's a risk for any secretary of state if the office, which oversees elections, is seen as being politicized. "A good secretary of state would be, in a sense, someone whose name is not in the newspaper," Goldford said. Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz says he wants elections to be fair and honest, with no party having an advantage.
