Drake to receive $50,000 [from] Zach Johnson
The Iowa Section PGA will present a $50,000 check, on behalf of Drake University alum and pro golfer Zach Johnson, to support Drake's Play Golf America University program Jan. 25.

Drake University alumnus Billy Cundiff, the Baltimore Ravens and Pro Bowl kicker, has reached a five-year, $15 million contract agreement with the Ravens, according to ESPN. Cundiff made 26 of 29 field goals this season with a long of 49 yards. He made all 39 extra points he attempted.

Drake JMC alumnus Peter Lewis is profiled by Stanford's student newspaper. He is the Hearst visiting professor in the communication department and spent a year as a Knight fellow at Stanford in 2010. Lewis also worked at The New York Times, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the birth of the Internet and wrote a novel in Argentina.

Whitver welcomed to Senate, will observe for now
Second year Drake law student Jack Whitver was welcomed into the Senate chamber this morning with a standing ovation from his colleagues-to-be of both parties. Whitver, a Republican, won the Senate District 35 special election against Democrat John Calhoun.
Diebel chosen for Juice
Drake alumnus and current graduate student Chris Diebel of Orchestrate Hospitality is the 2010 Juice Young Professional of the Year. The award recognizes central Iowans younger than 35 whose efforts have improved the quality of local life.
