Author Daniel Pink is coming to Drake for a presentation on Wednesday,
December 1st from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main,
followed by a book signing. Mr. Pink comes to us out of some
substantial work by SOE Professor Tom Westbrook and his coordination
team with the Central Iowa Chapter of ASTD and the Des Moines
Partnership as a part of his new leadership initiative.
Daniel H. Pink is the author of four provocative, bestselling
books on the changing world of work. In his latest book, Drive: The
Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us, Pink shows us that the secret
to high performance and satisfaction in todays’ world is the deeply
human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and
to do better by ourselves and our world. Based on forty years of
scientific data supporting his argument that people need intrinsic
rather than external motivation, Pink’s work revolutionizes the way
that we look at performance and motivation.
