I am in the process of wrapping up my fall practicum placements, and our numbers of students out in the classrooms this fall is incredible, especially in the secondary classrooms. For the classes in which I currently place students, I have been responsible for almost 270 placements. That is up 30-40 students from last spring.
Just last week, we met with our Spring, 2011 student teaching candidates. Currently, we are planning to place about 75 students out in the classrooms as compared to only 39 students last spring. From what I understand, the student teacher placement record for a semester at Drake is 80 students. Oh, so close!
I am very proud to be apart of the School of Education’s placement program. Having been a classroom teacher, it is so exciting to see so many people wanting to make a positive impact on childrens lives.
