“Currently, 70 volunteer tutors meet one-to-one with adult new readers at the Adult Literacy Center,” said Anne Murr, coordinator of the center. “With community support, these learners expand their lives in ways most of us take for granted. Contributions help volunteers invest in the community, one life at a time.”
To help support literacy, customers simply present a special flier at the time of their purchase to show that they want to assist the Adult Literacy Center. Volunteers will handout the fliers at the event.
Before leaving the store, shoppers may also stop by the center’s table to offer a good-will donation.
The Drake Adult Literacy Center’s mission is to improve literacy among adults, resulting in enhanced self-esteem, daily living and life-long learning.
