Shooting and editing video in iMovie
Saturday, March 5 | 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Meredith 104
What you will learn: Bring your point-and-shoot video camera (a still camera that shoots video will work fine) along for this hands-on course. You’ll learn tips for shooting better video along with how to edit video in iMovie ’09. In the afternoon, you’ll shoot and edit a story alone or in a pair.

Writing for the web

What you will learn: This two-hour lecture course will give you a solid introduction into search engine optimization and how readers really interact with our content online.

What you will learn: Learn the basis of building websites using HTML and CSS in the morning. Then put your skills to use building your first web pages in the afternoon.

Creating a blog/site using WordPress.org

What you will learn: In this hands-on class, you will purchase a domain name, launch a WordPress site and learn to make some basic modifications to your WordPress theme. It is recommended that you take the “Basics of HTML and CSS” class first, but that’s not required.
Cost: $50 if you sign up in advance. $75 at the door. Free for Drake students/staff who sign up in advance. It is recommended that you purchase a domain name and hosting during the session. Current price is $56 for a year.
