What do brass sextets, bells, and tuned water glasses have in common? All three will be used during the Cavalcade of Choirs on Sunday, April 13 at 3 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium.
Collaboration between singers and instrumentalists is just one aspect of the performance. More than 250 singers from all four Drake University choruses will perform a variety of music for concertgoers. Music by contemporary composers from the United States, Spain, Australia, and Latvia, as well as works by Mozart and Debussy will be performed.
“The Cavalcade of Choirs concert is the only opportunity to hear all of Drake’s choirs at one performance this semester,” says Aimee Beckmann-Collier, professor of conducting at Drake University. “The wide variety of music that will be performed will engage audience members’ hearts and minds.”
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Aimee Beckmann-Collier at aimee.beckmann-collier@drake.edu or 515-271-2841.
The Cavalcade of Choirs is sponsored by Drake University’s Department of Music.
