Drake University Law School was recently ranked No. 3 on The National Jurist’s preLaw Magazine list of the nation’s best law school buildings. The Law School earned an A+ grade for facilities that enhance student learning, foster collaboration and support professional development and career preparation.
Drake Law School’s ranking was driven by several standout features, including its student-centered design, generous space allocation and extended library access. Drake Law School is also home to the Daniel L. Power Courtroom, a fully equipped courtroom featuring a judicial bench, counsel tables, a jury box, a 125-seat gallery, judge’s chambers, and a jury deliberation room.
Additional features that contributed to the recognition include classrooms equipped for recording and hybrid participation, along with a variety of collaborative and individual study spaces. Students have access to study rooms, open carrels and booths, boardroom-style tables and central gathering areas designed for informal collaboration and academic work.
According to preLaw Magazine, the methodology considered aesthetics (50%), square footage per student (10%), library hours and seating per student (15%), amenities such as dining, fitness and lockers (15%), and parking, sustainability and other factors (10%).
