Teachers and caregivers are encouraged to sign up for the program to receive free resources and rewards

The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University and Hy-Vee are proud to announce a new partnership to further support kids and families in living healthy, active lifestyles. The Ray Center is assuming all responsibility and management of Hy-Vee’s KidsFit program, while Hy-Vee will continue to serve as the program’s presenting sponsor.

Under The Ray Center’s direction, the program’s mission will remain the same—empower children to take control of their health by making free resources accessible to all parents, teachers, and role models.

“We are grateful to Hy-Vee for the opportunity to bring KidsFit to The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University,” said Drake University President Marty Martin. “The program aligns with both Drake University’s inspiration statement—together we transform lives and strengthen communities—and The Ray Center’s work to provide CHARACTER COUNTS! education to thousands of schools, youth organizations, and communities throughout Iowa and beyond.”

Hy-Vee’s KidsFit program has promoted health, exercise, and nutrition among schools and families since 2015, reaching more than 1.2 million kids in 24 states and Canada.

“We are proud to entrust this important work to The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center whose commitment to creating strong, vibrant schools and communities makes them a natural choice to lead the KidsFit program,” said Tina Potthoff, Senior Vice President of Communications at Hy-Vee. “We look forward to continuing to be involved in the initiative as the presenting sponsor, and we are proud to expand upon our strong partnership that already exists with Drake University.”

Through events and digital resources, KidsFit will continue to provide challenges to schools and families that incentivize kids’ efforts to make heathy choices. Educators are encouraged to join the KidsFit School Wellness Club, and parents and caregivers are encouraged to register their family for the KidsFit Club. Registration is free and provides access to fun, virtual challenges and tools for building healthy habits.

Registration is open now through Sept. 26 for KidsFit’s Mission to Move. Teachers are invited to register their classroom for the challenge and record their students’ minutes moved for a five-day period. All teachers who participate will earn a reward for their students.
