Drake University and Panama’s National Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senacyt) have formalized a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening academic quality and technological innovation.

The agreement, signed by Dr. Eduardo Ortega Barría, National Secretary of Senacyt, and Marty Martin, President of Drake University, establishes a roadmap for joint efforts to promote and implement Panama’s National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy, aligned with the country’s efforts to enhance its technological innovation and digital capabilities.

“Responsible global citizenship is written into our mission at Drake University, and we approach global engagement in a way that leverages our key strengths to address specific educational and societal needs across the world,” said Annique Kiel, Chief Global Affairs Officer and Dean of Global Programs at Drake University. “We are thankful for the collaboration with Senacyt and are incredibly optimistic about the future of our work in Panama.”

The agreement includes collaboration on programs and activities that foster training in emerging technologies, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and data analytics, to strengthen Panama’s human resources and technical capabilities.

Among the agreement’s objectives are promoting Panama’s National AI Strategy, supporting Drake University’s academic programs in Panama, and facilitating collaboration through knowledge exchange, joint seminars, and guest lectures.

Drake University and Senacyt commit to contributing their knowledge, resources, and capabilities to drive these initiatives for their mutual benefit and in line with their institutional missions.
