Sign up for NYC trip

The Big Apple is a beacon for media types. The city is littered with news outlets, media conglomerates, mega-agencies, and unlikely upstarts, all calling to recent grads looking for their shot at stardom. But before you make the leap to Brooklyn, it’s good to get a lay of the land—which is where Drake SJMC comes in.

This April, we’ll offer up another edition of the New York Field Trip, a five-day barnstorming of both NYC’s media staples and its newbie brands just for SJMC students. In the past, the trip has visited places like Cosmopolitan, NBC News, Edelman, New York magazine, and The New York Times. This year: Who knows, but it promises to be good.

There will also be opportunities to network with alumni, explore the city, and maybe take in the taping of a TV show. The trip is for juniors and seniors first.

It runs April 2-6 and will cost folks about $1200 for hotel, airfare, and other expenses (we’ll know more as things get closer). If you’re interested, start saving now. Also, let that lazy, sabbatical-loaf Prof. Inman know you’re on board because spots are limited to 12 students. Email him at jeff.inman@drake.edu with the subject line “NYC or Bust!”
