Support SJMC innovation

Here’s your chance to donate to an ongoing fund that will support technology and initiatives to keep the Drake SJMC at the forefront of media innovation across all majors.

Longtime SJMC professor and alumna Sandy Henry and retired professor Todd Evans have devoted their lives to nurturing generations of multimedia professionals. Their family — which includes Todd’s wife, Cathy, who is Sandy’s sister and also a Drake alumna — is generously donating seed money to create the new SJMC Emerging Media Fund.

This gift honors the legacy of Cathy’s and Sandy’s beloved mother, Anne McCrimmon, and her support of her daughters, Drake and the power of lifelong learning.

To give online, click on Make a Gift – Drake University. In the “Give To” pulldown menu, choose “Other.” Then in the “Other” box, type “SJMC Emerging Media Fund.

High school students visit Drake

We welcomed more than 60 area high school students to Meredith Hall on Friday. They took classes from SJMC professors, met our students, made podcasts, watched an award-winning student film and took photos in the photo studio. And of course they met Griff!

Support student filmmaking

SJMC senior Chris Veninga is raising money for a short film he is creating. You can learn more and support him through this funding campaign.

Red Bull looking for Drake students

What would you say if I told you Red Bull wants to send you to Europe for 7 days? There’s only one catch. You can only use Red Bull as currency, trading cans of Red Bull for your meals, shelter, and experiences while you make your way across the continent.

If this sounds like your kind of adventure, let’s talk about Red Bull Can You Make It?!  Red Bull is selecting 20 teams from the US to journey across Europe to take part in this adventure of a lifetime this May. You and two friends can apply by submitting a <60-second video highlighting because you think you should be selected. Applications are open now through March 31st.
