Drake University Law School is pleased to announce Ashley Madsen as the new Director of Academic Success. Ashley’s appointment follows the promotion of Elizabeth Battles to Dean of Student Services.
Ashley’s journey into the legal world began while she was an undergraduate student working as an AmeriCorps Representative at Iowa Legal Aid, where she worked in the pro se divorce and custody clinic. Her commitment to helping others was a perfect match for a career in the legal field, so she decided to pursue her passion through law school.
As a first-generation law student at Drake Law School, Ashley made the most of her experience through her roles as Treasurer for Drake Law Women and Editor in Chief of the Drake Law Review. She graduated with High Honors in 2021.
After law school, Ashley became an Associate Attorney at Timmer, Judkins and Borland, a boutique plaintiff’s employment law firm in West Des Moines. In that position, she practiced in both state and federal court, primarily litigating discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases.
“I’ve always had a passion for helping others, so I am extremely excited to take this opportunity to provide support and resources to any Drake Law student who needs it,” said Ashley. “I am looking forward to working with students to help them navigate their own paths to success through law school, the bar exam, and beyond.”
