Apply for ASME internship

For 60 years, the ASME Internship has been the most prestigious internship in magazine media. Previous Drake ASME interns now work at Google,People magazine, Architectural Digest, Trusted Media Brands, DotDash Meredith, and more. You could be next. 

Every year, Drake SJMC forwards the applications of two students for consideration. To be one of those students you must have completed your junior year by June 2023. You also must be willing to spend the summer—late May to early August 2023—working at a top magazine media brand in New York City or Washington, D.C. Previous experience as an intern for a publication or with a campus magazine is preferred.

Slices with Shriver

Students are invited to join Tim Shriver for conversation and pizza ahead of the Fall 2023 Sussman Lecture – “Dignity: The Foundation of a New Patriotism.”

Shriver is the Chairman of Special Olympics International and co-founder of UNITE – an initiative to promote national unity and solidarity across differences. Students can come to the Tom and Ruth Harkin Center at 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, for a chance to chat with him, ask him questions, and get a slice of pizza. No RSVP required!

Registration starts today

Registration for J-term and spring begins on Monday, October 30.  Your registration date and time is determined by your earned credit hours, not your total credit hours.  You can find your earned hours by viewing the ‘Transcript Totals’ section of your unofficial transcript (earned credit hours do not include any courses you are currently enrolled in and do not have a grade for), or by visiting the Prepare for Registration link after you visit the registration page in Self Service.  Registration start dates and times are available here.   

You can schedule an appointment with your SJMC Advising Specialist through Starfish.  If you can’t find your advisor’s schedule, please email them directly to find out how they would like you to sign up for an advising time.
