First Scripps Howard intern named
Andrew Kennard will receive the SJMC’s first Scripps Howard scholarship to support his summer internship. Andrew will be working remotely for Native News Online, a 10-year-old, Michigan-based daily news service that covers Indian Country issues. SJMC was connected with NNO by 1985 Drake business alum Tom Olive.
Reminders
Report your Covid vaccination: All members of the Drake community are encouraged to help alleviate the threat of the pandemic by getting vaccinated. And, once you are fully vaccinated, please report that to the University. Required campus safety protocols in the fall — including mask wearing and social distancing — will be determined by how many people on campus are vaccinated. The sooner everyone gets vaccinated, the sooner we can loosen restrictions. Take photos of your vaccination card and email to contacttracing@drake.edu. All Hy-Vee pharmacies are now offering COVID vaccinations without appointments.
Become a fake news fighter: Join SJMC associate professor Jennifer Konfrst for “Back to Class: Fighting Fake News – How You Can Help Stop the Spread of Misinformation” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19. Back to Class features speakers from Drake’s campus in a virtual setting. Bulldogs are invited to join from wherever they are to learn about unique topics, hear from voices on campus, and connect with the Drake community.
