As of March 24, 2021, Drake University’s College of Business and Public Administration (CBPA) aligned the HR track of the B.S. in Management and Organizational Leadership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) academic standards.
The HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates were developed by SHRM to define content areas that should be studied by HR students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The guidelines—created in 2006 and revalidated in 2010, 2013, and 2017—are part of SHRM’s Academic Initiative to define HR education standards taught in university business schools and help universities develop degree programs that follow these standards.
Throughout the world, more than 500 programs in approximately 425 educational institutions have been acknowledged by SHRM as being academically aligned. Drake University is the only one in Des Moines and one of five in Iowa, currently.
The CBPA continues to seek partnerships with industry organizations to ensure the best education is provided to students and the best students are available for business, government, and non-profit employers. We are excited to add SHRM to our distinguished list of accreditations and alignments.
The SHRM Academic Alignment assures potential students of the quality HR education they will receive from the CBPA, makes students more marketable to employers, and assures potential employers of the talent they are hiring from Drake University.
