Asrielle Allen, a senior studying actuarial science and data analytics in Drake University’s College of Business and Public Administration, is one of eight students across the United States and Canada to receive a Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) Trust Scholarship, an award designed to further students’ interest in the property and casualty actuarial profession. Allen was awarded $2,500 through the program.

Allen is currently interning at Prudential on their international pricing team. Allen was also an actuarial and analytics leadership development program intern at Travelers in 2019. In addition to achieving professional experience, Allen has served in several leadership roles on campus. She served as president of the Drake Association for Technology Advancement and internal vice president of Drake Actuarial Student Society from 2018–2019. Most recently, she was named Junior of the Year by the College of Business and Public Administration in May 2020.

“I am very thankful to the Casualty Actuarial Society for selecting me as a CAS Trust Scholarship Recipient,” said Allen. “I have looked up to past recipients of this award, so to receive it myself is truly an honor. I would like to thank God, my parents, Drake University, my professional network, and this society for encouraging me as I pursue a career as an actuary.”

This is the fourth year in a row that a Drake University student has won a prestigious CAS Trust Scholarship. Recipients are chosen by the CAS Trust Scholarship Subcommittee who reviews candidates’ academic records, two letters of recommendation, and an application essay. Candidates must be full-time students, demonstrate high scholastic achievement, and have taken at least one actuarial exam. Allen has already taken and passed three actuarial exams.
